Welcome to the #PlayUnified Podcast – formerly known as “Sports is the Catalyst” – where we meet at the intersection of sports, disability, philanthropy, entertainment and community building. Listen as we discuss why sports is such an important part of life, community and social change. Guests will include local sports figures, government officials, small business owner and figures within the Special Olympics movement.

On episode two we chat with Joe Haggerty, CSNNE Bruins insider, about the 2014 Bruins, sports as a community catalyst for community and social skills. Hags discusses how he got involved with Special Olympics and how that changed his perspective on the organization. “It brings out a level of joy and competition in the athletes that is so refreshing to watch.”

Welcome to the first ever Special Olympics Massachusetts Podcast - formerly known as "Sports is the Catalyst" the podcast is now under the "Play Unified Podcast" moniker.

In this first episode we meet Gail Steele at the intersection of sports, disability, philanthropy, entertainment and community building. We are excited to speak with guests who can highlight how sports can be a catalyst for community building and social change.

Gail is a local program coordinator along with her husband of the North Shore Rovers soccer team in Swampscot, MA. For Gail sports is a was to challenge yourself and experience the team camaraderie. For her family, Special Olympics is a way of life, full of stories and inspiration.
